Get a Taste of Oakland's Guest Chefs
Oakland's thriving food scene has been taken to new heights in the city's Rockridge district. A new concept has been developed to showcase a variety of talented chefs every two weeks, ranging from amateurs to experts. Visitors will have something new to look forward to each time they come to Oakland. Guest Chef is a fully equipped restaurant, ready for a new culinary crew to take the reigns each time the rotation takes place. The restaurant seats 19-20 diners and also offers take-out counter service for those on the go. The space is open for dinner only Tuesday-Sunday, so make sure to take advantage of this exciting new concept the next time you visit Oakland.

A Toast to Oakland's Arts Community
Oakland's Art Murmur galleries continue to garner attention from<![endif]> all over the country, drawing more and more people to Oakland each month. The First Friday and Saturday Stroll events provide visitors with a first-hand view of Oakland's artistic community, showcasing over 1100 artists in over 200 exhibitions every year, according to the organization. On May 6, celebrate the arts with food, wine, signature cocktails, music and art at Flourish Oakland, held at Mua in Uptown Oakland. At the event, guests can watch artists in action as they enjoy a taste of some of Oakland's delicious culinary offerings. Make sure to head to Jack London Square on May 4 for the new Jack's Night Market event as a part of Oakland Art Murmur, including local vegetable and fruit producers, performance art, and other Oakland crafts.

Recreate Ozumo's Futago Roll
Want to treat your mom to a home cooked meal this Mother's Day? With these easy steps, learn to create your own Futago sushi roll, courtesy of Ozumo Oakland. The restaurant will also be unveiling new lunch, dinner and bar menus next week.
<![endif]>- 1.5 oz. beef flatloin
- 5 cucumber slices
- 2 oz. eggplant
- 2.5 oz. spinach
- Grated ginger
- Sesame seeds
- 1 oz. sesame dressing
Directions:
- Sear the flatloin to desired temperature. Let it cool and slice into 1/4" strips (going against the grain). Saute blanched spinach with oil, garlic, and season with salt. Cut eggplant into 1" cubes and saute until cooked through.
Plating:
Lay cucumber rounds, then top with eggplant and a pinch of grated ginger. Then place spinach on top. Follow the same steps with the flatloin, sesame dressing, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
