The nationally acclaimed artist, photographer and writer Bonnie Lautenberg will talk about her life, and her exhibition at the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU with Susan Berg Pasternack, the Executive Director of the Museum.

The exhibition is titled Lady Liberty: A Bonnie Lautenberg Retrospective, in honor of the role women have played in championing freedom. The solo museum show celebrates powerful images of women from two decades of art by Lautenberg.

Spanning her multiple series of photography and conceptual art, the women in these works are admired by Lautenberg for their spirit of freedom. The exhibition features her headline-grabbing portrayals of the Statue of Liberty confronting some of today’s most challenging issues.

Extended by popular demand for two more months, Lady Liberty will be on view through May 15th, 2023. Lautenberg's exhibition at the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU is getting rave reviews, and was celebrated by Artnet News as one of the “Must-See Museum Shows During Art Basel Miami Beach” and as “One of the Hottest Exhibitions During Art Basel Miami Beach” by Elite Traveler Magazine.

In 2022, Lautenberg was appointed by The White House to the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts (PACA). Established in 1958 by President Eisenhower, PACA also sustains and guides the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Cultural Center of the United States.

Lautenberg is the widow of the late Senator Frank Lautenberg, one of Washington's longest-serving Senators. She has been described as “having enough Washington insider stories to fill a book.” Bonnie’s new book, which she is currently working on with co-writer Dick Olin about her 25 years of political photography, will be published by Rutgers University Press.

Lautenberg is co-producing a new Broadway musical about the life of Andy Warhol with her current partner Steve Leber. The show has been approved by the Warhol Foundation and is slated to be directed by Sir Trevor Nunn with book by Rupert Holmes.

Space is limited. RSVP required at: https://ConversationWithArtistBonnieLautenberg.eventbrite.com/
